Digital Camera....Suggestions??

So it's way past time for me to buy a digital camera. Here's the thing..I don't want to spend a lot of money - like $100-$125. I mainly want it for internet stuff...don't really need to make prints. It's not that I'm cheap or poor (ok, I'm both - bite me) but rather that I like to spend my money on hashing and drinking and clothes and gas to get me to hashing, drinking, and clothes shopping. Another big reason is that I seem to lose stuff everywhere I go so I know this will probably be the first thing I lose so I'll have to replace it once a month. Anyone have any suggestions? I want a compact one. I was looking at this one Any suggestions..what to look for, what to avoid?

have you checked www.epinions.com? I love the site. It is just consumers rating things they have purchased.

Spotty, I was told by a Hasher in SF who is really into photography to get a Pentax Optio S40. I think it cost me about $160.00 a year ago but the price may have gone down. It's very easy to use and comes with an aluminum case so it's pretty tough. I purchased it specifically for Hashing and it has served me pretty well so far.

My $.02

That's what I'm talking about...specifics. Thanks MB! I'm looking at the Canon Powershots and the Kodak Easyshares right now and will also check out the Pentax.

I have a Canon powershot A20, bought it several years ago and the thing has been virtually indestructible. I’ve dropped it, kicked it, taken it hashing, to the beach, left it in the car, I think it’s even gotten wet and the thing still takes good pictures. I’d like to trade up to a higher MP camera, but I like this one so much that I'd hate to start over liking another camera. If I were to get another still camera, I'd get another canon, although that Pentax looks interesting. That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.

The easyshares are good, but it takes a few seconds to focus on a pic. So it's good for group shots and stuff like that, but not so good for action shots.

EZ is sooooo right. Canon Elphs rock! You've seen me take that thing all over...hashing, on-on-ons, drunken parties, etc.

Good quality, user friendly and sturdy.
